UR–College of Education Hosts a Delegation from the French Embassy in Rwanda ‎

On 16 February 2026, the University of Rwanda – College of Education (UR-CE) welcomed a delegation from the Embassy of France in Rwanda for an official visit aimed at strengthening academic cooperation and promoting the French language.

‎The delegation, composed of Mr. Florent Massat, Cooperation and Cultural Affairs Attaché, and Ms. Sarah Delbois, French Cooperation Attaché , was received by Prof. Florien Nsanganwimana, Principal of UR-CE, alongside members of the School of Language Education and Social Sciences as well as representatives from the College’s academic and administrative units.

‎A bilateral meeting was held during which a comprehensive presentation of the College was delivered, highlighting its mandate, academic programmes, and strategic priorities. Dr. Rugigana Aimable, Subject Leader for French Section provided insights into the existing cooperation framework and emphasized efforts supporting the promotion of the French language.

‎Discussions focused on opportunities for academic exchanges and the identification of potential areas of collaboration in the field of education and the promotion of French. Both parties expressed a shared commitment to strengthening a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership.

‎The delegation also toured key teaching and learning facilities that support modern instructional practices, including multimedia studios dedicated to the production of digital educational content and the micro-teaching room designed for teaching simulations and reflective practice.

‎The College Library was among the facilities visited. On this occasion, the delegation donated a collection of French-language books across various categories, contributing to the enrichment of academic resources.

The visit concluded at the Rukara Model School, established at the initiative of UR–College of Education and located on its premises. The school, which comprises nursery, primary, and secondary levels, serves as a practical training environment for future teachers.

‎This visit marks an important step in reinforcing cooperation between the two institutions in the pursuit of quality education and the continued promotion of the French language.
